Why we started our own business
Growing up I always had a feeling I would own my own business and be successful with it. My dream was a Bed and Breakfast where I could talk to people from all over the world and cook them meals made from scratch. I would have the opportunity to hear about their stories of their travels. My B and B was going to be a little home away from home for guests. I thought maybe someday I would be able to grow it and have my own bakery, I would live in a small town with my own little family near this B and B.

Well as I got older, my dreams matured with age and life, they also changed. I met my husband Darrin when I was working for him as a baker at the Pie shop he owned. We eventually became good friends, then started dating, and eventually got married!
As a young adult, Darrin knew he wanted to own his own business but never really knew what it would be or how it would work. One day a family friend of his mentioned how successful their Pie shop was and how Darrin should think about creating his own. Well, that is how Pies n More started. His friend and mentor helped him get everything into place and taught him what he knew about running a business and making pies. Unfortunately, being in Mesa, Arizona Darrin didn’t realize how much business would slow down in the summers- to the point where we couldn’t sustain keeping the doors open.
The holiday’s were the busiest time of the year for us and we would start preparing for them weeks ahead of time so we wouldn’t have to turn away any sale for not planning ahead. Well unfortunately after the holidays were over, business would slow too much for us to be able to make it through the summer. Not knowing much about website design, SEO, Facebook, and how to really optimize our digital presence made it difficult. After pushing the inevitable off as long as we could we chose to shut the Pie shop down.
Not long after that we chose to move in with his Grandfather to help him around the house and more importantly bring him company in his last years in life. Now Grandpa isn’t old enough to be dying anytime soon (knock on wood), but every time Darrin would talk to Grandpa he just seemed like he was lonely and didn’t have a lot of family and friends to check up on him and hang out with him. So one day we asked him about us moving in with him and helping with things like yard work and such that he couldn’t do anymore. He was so delighted with the idea, that he drove down to Arizona, to tow our trailer full of stuff back up to Oregon where we would move in with him. So we rented out the house we bought and followed him up the coast to a new adventure with our dogs in the backseat.
A couple of years went by and I finally passed my real estate license exam that I had been working on for quite some time. I was always looking up information on real estate and real estate investing on Facebook and came across a posting that said “thinking about getting into real estate investing I have three words for you: don’t do it!” Well that intrigued me so I clicked on it and kept going down the bunny trail to find out more information. That night when Darrin got home from work I made him look at it with me. We both needed to know more after that and scheduled a call to figure out what this new opportunity was and how to start it!
We jumped on that call a few days later when we were both off and were so excited to talk to someone to learn more! We ended up learning a lot about how we could start our own digital marketing business and how we could help business owners with their dreams of making their businesses successful by helping them with their web presence.
This new opportunity had everything we were looking for: continually updated education so we would know what we are doing, the opportunity to once again work together, the freedom to work from home, the ability to set our own schedule, but the most important things it had that we are most passionate about was the ability to help other business owners, the ability to help these families by providing them business, the ability to help educate them on what it is we do and how we won’t just put them on auto pilot and forget about them. This is an opportunity where we can not only make our dreams come true but other dreams as well.
And thus Krazye Marketing was born.
